Notre Dame advanced to the quarterfinals Friday night, winning 27-17 against the Indiana Hoosiers in the College Football Playoff's first-ever on-campus postseason matchup.

While the victory was relatively one-sided, it was dominated single-handedly by the time of possession, the efficiency of quarterback Riley Leonard, and the Fighting Irish's ability to capitalize on Indiana's fundamental mistakes.

One of those came midway through the fourth quarter.

Indiana was trailing by 17 on fourth down.

Instead of keeping the offense on the field, the Hoosiers punted the ball back to an already near-unstoppable Irish offensive attack.

Although Indiana was likely on its way to an eventual season-ending defeat, it d idn't stop social media from letting Hoosiers coach Curt Cignetti hear it out of frustration.

"FIRE CIGNETTI DO IT NOW THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE," one Purdue fan wrote on 'X.' Indiana was held to 63 rushing yards compared to Notre Dame's 193.

To make matters worse, the Hoosiers were heavily scrutinized for questionable play-calling .

Hours before kickoff, Cignetti boldly claimed he knew how to beat AP Top 25 teams , acting supremely confident with each laugh as College GameDay rolled on.

While the Hoosiers' season is over, Notre Dame turns the page to the Sugar Bowl on New Year's Day against the Georgia Bulldogs.

Georgia improved to 2-0 against the Texas Longhorns, winning the SEC Championship to earn a first-round bye.

Three games will still be played in the opening round: Penn State vs.

SMU, Texas vs.

Clemson, and Ohio State vs.

Tennessee, all of which will take place on Saturday..
